Lime Tree as Natural Medicine

Tilia or Lime tree has been used in European folk medicine for centuries to treat a wide range of health problems. Flowers from two linden species (Tilia cordata and Tilia platypus) were traditionally used to soothe nerves and treat health problems associated with anxiety.
These flowers were added to baths to quell hysteria, and steeped as a tea to relieve anxiety-related indigestion, irregular heartbeat, and vomiting. Today, linden is used in many cough and cold remedies. Active ingredients in linden help promote sweating, which is helpful in people with fevers. Lime trees are also valued for their wood and charcoal, and for the flavorful honey made from their flowers.

Lime tree has been studied in only a few test tube and animal trials. However, a qualified healthcare practitioner may recommend this herb for the treatment of certain conditions. Note that, different parts of Lime tree species are used in treating specific conditions and symptoms.
Tilia cordata/platypus flowers: colds, cough, fever, infections, high blood pressure, and headache (particularly migraine), and as a diuretic (increases urine production), antispasmodic (reduces smooth muscle spasm along the digestive tract), and sedative
Tilia cordata/platypus leaves: to promote sweating (helpful for fevers)
Tilia cordata/platypus wood: liver and gallbladder disorders, cellulitis (inflammation of the skin and surrounding soft tissue)
Tilia cordata/platypus charcoal: ingested to treat intestinal disorders and used topically to treat swelling (edema) or infection (such as cellulitis or ulcers) of the lower leg

Guava as Natural Medicine

Guava -- botanically known as Psidium guava -- is an evergreen shrub native to Mexico and Central America.

Guava leaves are a traditional cure for diarrhea among Indians throughout the Amazon, and are also chewed as a remedy for sore throats and bleeding gums; decoctions made from the leaves are applied to wounds. The leaves and bark contain antibacterial substances, which can cure some diseases Drugs.com notes that guava leaves contain beneficial phenols, triterpenes and flavonoids, and are rich in quercetin, a natural antioxidant. Guava also has antimicrobial and antispasmodic effects that make it useful in treating diarrhea. Guava bark has antibacterial activity. Extracts from both parts of this plant are toxic in vitro (anti-poison) against some bacterial causes of diarrhea, such as Staphylococcus, Salmonella, Shigella, Bacillus, Escherichia coli, Clostridium, and Pseudomonas

Vinegar as Natural Medicine

Medicinal Use of Vinegar: ( Note: Must to be Used with Fully Care )

Swimmer’s Ear
The build-up of moisture in the ear canal is known as “swimmer’s ear” and when aggravated by the presence of bacteria, it can cause extreme itchiness and pain.
Keeping the ear free of water helps dramatically so, every time you come out of the pool, shower or bath, train a hair dryer on each ear for 20 seconds.
If the itchiness is more than you can bear, try a few drops of white vinegar in the ear canal (much like medical ear drops). Ensure the vinegar gets deep into the ear canal by moving your head slightly. Then, after 30 seconds allow the fluid to drain out.
Aim for two drops for each ear and continue for five days.

Nosebleeds
There are many ways to stop a bleeding nose and vinegar is one of them.
Soak sterile cotton strips in vinegar and gently insert into nostril. Vinegar will then stem the bleeding.

Coughs
If you have a cough that continually keeps you and everyone nearby awake at night, sprinkle a few drops of apple cider vinegar on a cloth and lay it under your head while you sleep.

Sore Throats
There are three ways of treating sore throats – gargling, swallowing and wrapping. If you do all three, the sore throat stands no chance:
1.    To gargle, mix one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of warm water and gargle for ten seconds, three to four times a day.
2.    To swallow, mix four teaspoons of apple cider vinegar and four teaspoons of honey in a glass of warm water. Drink every four hours.
3.    For wrapping, first steep a cloth in a mixture of 200 ml/7 fl oz/1 cup of warm water and two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar. Squeeze it out and place on the throat, keeping it in place by wrapping another scarf or cloth around it. Wear this while sleeping and the vinegar will draw the toxins out of your system.

Olive Oil

In folk medicine, olive oil has been used for every thing from reducing muscle aches and hangovers, to use as an aphrodisiac, laxative, and sedative—talk about versatile!

Olive oil facilitates overall digestion and absorption of nutrients, including crucial fat-soluble vitamins (one of the reasons fat free salad dressings are really doing your body a disservice)
Olive oil is naturally cholesterol-, sodium- and carbohydrate-free
While most people think deep green olive oil indicates a higher quality, color is not a factor. Greener oils comes from green olives (black olives yield pale oil)
Despite common beliefs, olive oil’s smoke point (410 degrees Fahrenheit) is high enough to withstand stir-frying. Regular olive oil, not extra virgin, is best for frying thanks to its high oleic acid (a MUFA) content

Olive oil helps also prevent DNA Damage because it has anti-oxidant.
It can also relieve hair dandruff

Baking Soda as Natural Medicine

Ulcer Pain: I have personally recommended this to many including family members and have been surprised how remarkably effective it is. This would make sense, as the baking soda would immediately neutralize stomach acid. Dosing is typically 1-2 teaspoons in a full glass of water.

Splinter removal: Add a tablespoon of baking soda to a small glass of water, then soak the affected area twice a day. Many splinters will come out on their own after a couple of days using this treatment.
Sunburn remedy: Add 1/2 cup of baking soda to lukewarm bathwater, then soak in the tub for natural relief. When you get out, let your skin air dry, rather than toweling off the excess baking soda, for extra relief. You can also add a mixture of baking soda and water to a cool compress and apply it to the sunburn directly.
Deodorant: If you want to avoid the parabens and aluminum found in many deodorants and antiperspirants, try a pinch of baking soda mixed with water instead. This simple paste makes an effective and simple natural deodorant.
Enhanced sports performance: Distance runners have long engaged in a practice known as “soda doping” – or taking baking soda capsules -- before races to enhance performance,3 a measure that’s thought to work similarly to carbohydrate loading. While I don’t suggest you try this at home, it’s another example of baking soda benefits.
Plaque-busting tooth and gum paste: For an incredibly effective tooth and gum paste, use a mixture of six parts of baking soda to one part of sea salt. Place them in a blender and mix for 30 seconds, then place in a container to use. Wet the tip of your index finger and place a small amount of the salt and soda mixture on your gums. Starting with the upper outside gums and then the inside of the upper, followed by the lower outside of the gums then the lower inside, rub the mixture onto your teeth and gums. Spit out the excess. After 15 minutes rinse your mouth. This mixture is incredibly effective at killing bacteria.
Insect bites: Apply a paste made of baking soda and water to insect bites to help relieve itching. You can also try rubbing the dry powder onto your skin. This is also effective for itchy rashes and poison ivy.
Teeth whitener: For a natural way to whiten your teeth, crush one ripe strawberry and mix it with 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda. Spread the mixture onto your teeth and leave on for five minutes. Then brush your teeth and rinse. This method should be used no more than once a week, as excessive use could potentially damage your tooth enamel.
Foot soak: Add three tablespoons of baking soda to a tub of warm water for an invigorating foot soak.Exfoliator: A paste made from three parts of baking soda combined with 1 part water can be used as an exfoliator for your face and body. It’s natural, inexpensive and gentle enough to use every day.
Detox bath: Baking soda and apple cider make a wonderful spa-like bath for soaking away aches and pains and detoxing. It also cleans the tub and the drain, as a bonus!

Jatropha curcas

Jatropha curcas is a species of flowering plant in the genus Jatropha in spurge family, Euphorbiaceae, that is native to the American tropics, most likely Mexico and Central America. It is cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions around the world, becoming naturalized in some areas.

The oil from Jatropha curcas seeds is used in helping with rashes and parasitic skin diseases. Sap form the bark is used to dress wounds and ulcers and can also be used to stop bleeding. When you mix oil from the seeds with benzyl benzoate, it becomes effective against scabies and dermatitis. You can use the sap from the leaves on bee and wasp stings.

Jatropha is most commonly used to purge the stomach, causing vomiting and diarrhea. When you drink it in a tea, it can help with the reduction of fevers and will also help with jaundice and gonorrhea. Many people chew on the seeds to aid in constipation. The stems of young leaves are said to aid urinary infections. Tea made from the bark of jatropha is given to people with rheumatism and leprosy. The Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education, Dehradun, says the roots can be used to make an antidote for snakebites. The fruits and seeds of jatropha are said by jstor.org to contain a contraceptive principle.
The small tender twigs can be used as a toothbrush to clean the teeth. When jatropha is mixed with something that has a pleasant taste, it can be used as a mouthwash. Jatropha can be used to strengthen gums. Making a compress from the leaves and placing it on a sore tooth will help with the pain. The sap from the leaves can be rubbed onto the gums of babies to aid with teething.

Tongkat Ali or Eurycoma Longifolia

Tongkat Ali was dubbed the "Asian Viagra" in a May 1999 report in the New Sunday Times. It has been used in Malaysia for many years by men to increase sexual desire, libido, sexual performance and to treat erectile dysfunction.

Tongkat Ali contains the effective ingredient Eurycoma Longifolia Jack, this works by blocking the negative feedback cycle that occurs when your testosterone level reaches its natural peak, as your natural peak is reached without Tongkat your body sends a signal to the pituitary gland and hypothalamus that initiates a decrease in testosterone production. The Eurycoma Longifolia Jack from Tongkat Ali blocks this signal allowing your body to produce testosterone at a steadily increasing rate well above your natural level, this steady increase of free testosterone in the body has been clinically proven to increase strength, increase muscle mass, reduce body fat and increase sex drive.

Honey Bees as Natural Remedy

Honey bees transform nectar into honey by a process of regurgitation and evaporation. They store it as a primary food source in wax honeycombs inside the beehive.

Afternoon Fatigue: At 3:00pm (or when the body is feeling fatigued), drink 1/2 Tablespoon of honey in a glass of water and sprinkled with cinnamon powder. Energy will increase within one week if taken daily.

Anxiety and Nervous Tension: Honey is said to calm a nervous, high strung person. It can also help you sleep at night. For insomnia, take 1 Tablespoon of honey at dinner. If that doesn't work, try mixing 3 Tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar to 1 cup of honey in a jar. Take 2 teaspoons before bed. If you don't fall asleep within the hour, take 2 teaspoons more. An old ayuverdic remedy has men taking the same dosage (2 Tablespoons of honey) before bed to treat impotence.

Honey for pain relief: Mix 3 Tbls. of honey in boiled water and drink. Honey has natural pain-relieving powers.

Longevity Tea: Boil 3 cups of water with 4 teaspoons of honey and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder. Drink 1/4 cup, 3 or 4 times a day. Said to give steady energy and keep the skin soft!

Honey Relieves Coughs: Here's a recipe from the book, Folk Medicine, by DC Jarvis: boil a whole lemon slowly for 10 minutes. Cut the lemon in 2 and extract the juice. Add juice to a 4 oz glass. Then add 2 Tablespoons of glycerine and fill the remaining glass with honey. Dosage: 1 teaspoon during the day. Stir with spoon before taking. If you have a night-time cough, take 1 teaspoon right before retiring and then another one during the night. If your cough is severe, take concoction every 4 hours starting with when you wake up. As the cough gets better, you take less and less.

Honey for Burns: Apply to burn, cover with a soft bandage.

Honey for Asthma: Right before going to bed, take a mixture of 1 tsp. honey with 1/2 tsp. cinnamon.

Honey for Hang-overs: Eat honey on bread or crackers. The fructose in the honey helps to flush out the alcohol in your system.

Lapacho or Taheebo

Taheebo is the common name for the inner bark of the Red or Purple Lapacho tree. This tree grows high in the Andes of the South American rainforest. The Red Lapacho's purple-colored inner bark was one of the main medicines used by the Incas and has been used for over 1,000 years by the Callawaya tribe, descendants of the Incas
According to "Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database," alternative medicine uses lapacho tea as a general health "tonic and blood builder." People also use the tea to help treat cancer, diabetes, allergies, gastritis, liver ailments, asthma, bronchitis, cystitis, hernias, chlorosis, fever, warts and smoker's cough. Lapacho is also used to help reduce pain and treat inflammatory disorders such as inflammatory bowel disease, arthritis, prostatitis and rheumatism. In addition, the tea is purported to promote the healing of boils, ulcers and other wounds. These uses are based largely on anecdotal reports and historical use however, and not on solid scientific evidence.
Due to its antimicrobial properties, lapacho tea is used in alternative medicine to treat a variety of infectious disorders including Candida yeast infections, infectious diarrhea, bladder infections, herpes simplex virus, parasitic infections such as schistomiasis and ringworm; gonorrhea, syphilis and brucellosis. In addition, people drink lapacho tea to help treat viral respiratory infections including the common cold, flu and swine flu. More research needs to be done to confirm the efficacy of lapacho tea for these purposes, however.

Nettle as Herbal Medicine

Nettle tea was used for intestinal weakness, diarrhea, and malnutrition -- uses that persist to the present time. Nettles also act as a diuretic and are useful in treating kidney weakness and bladder infections. As a diuretic, nettles can help rid the body of excess fluid (edema) in persons with weakened hearts and poor circulation.
Nettles also have been used topically to treat eczema and skin rashes and soothe arthritic and rheumatic joints. In fact, the plant has been most widely studied for its value in the treatment of arthritis and gout. When uric acid, a product of protein digestion, accumulates in the joints and tissues, a very painful inflammatory condition known as gout can result. One tablespoon of fresh nettle juice several times a day has been shown to help clear uric acid from the tissues and enhance its elimination from the body.

Bitter Melon

Easing Indigestion:
Bitter gourd may help treat viruses or infections, either topically or
internally. Bitter gourd inhibited the hepatitis B virus in vitro, according to a 2009 study in China. A 1995 animal study published in the journal Gene revealed that bitter gourd inhibited HIV and had anti-tumor effects, reports the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. As a topical agent made as a 10-percent-concentration ointment, bitter gourd might also prevent or treat infections in wounds, Drug Digest says. The studies indicating bitter gourd's antiviral and infection-fighting benefits have been conducted in animals or test tubes, so as of 2010, no conclusive human studies had proven these effects.
Preventing Cancer :
Bitter gourd might offer anticancer effects that could help to prevent or treat cancer, Drug Digest reports. A laboratory study of human breast cancer cells found that bitter gourd had anti-tumor effects, according to a 2000 issue of Anticancer Research. Another laboratory study published in the International Journal of Cancer in 2009 discovered that bitter gourd inhibited pre-malignant and malignant prostate cancer cells, notes the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Studies in humans have yet to be conducted on bitter gourd, so you shouldn't take the herbal remedy to treat or prevent cancer before first talking with your physician.
Lowering Cholesterol :
If you have high cholesterol levels, taking bitter gourd might help to reduce them. A 2006 laboratory study published in the British Journal of Pharmacology found that bitter gourd had lipid-lowering actions, cites the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. No human clinical trials have been conducted, but bitter gourd appears to reduce cholesterol levels in the liver and moderately in the blood, Drug Digest notes. Bitter gourd is thought to inhibit enzymes that enable fat absorption in your body. Bitter gourd might also increase your levels of HDL or "good" cholesterol. Don't take bitter gourd to lower your cholesterol before first talking with your healthcare provider.

Treating Diabetes :
Bitter gourd may offer therapeutic benefits if you have high blood sugar or diabetes. Bitter gourd contains the constituent charantin, vicine and polypeptide-P, which appear to affect glucose metabolism and tolerance in the body, reports the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

Aloe Vera

The aloe vera miracle: A natural medicine for cancer, cholesterol, diabetes, inflammation, IBS, and other health conditions.

Aloe vera halts inflammation
Using aloe topically is well known to ease inflammation of joints,
reducing arthritis pain. But aloe can also be used internally, reducing inflammation throughout the body from the inside out. People who drink aloe vera for two weeks typically begin to experience a significant reduction of inflammation symptoms.
Aloe vera enhances skin health
It is one of the most widely-used ingredients in high-grade skin care products. There's a reason for that: It's great medicine for the skin! Aloe soothes the skin, hydrates it, nourishes it and accelerates the regeneration of new skin tissue. (In fact, simply removing the gel from a living aloe vera leaf and placing the raw gel on your face is far superior to even the most expensive eye cream or skin care product on the market.) And while most people are only familiar with using aloe vera externally, aloe also enhances skin health when used internally. Drink more aloe and your skin glows!
Aloe vera stabilizes blood sugar in diabetics.
Diabetic patients who take aloe vera for 3 months experience a significant drop in fasting blood sugar levels. They also exhibit lower cholesterol levels and slight improvements in total cholesterol. Numerous clinical studies have been published that demonstrate aloe vera's antidiabetic properties.
Diabetics are also likely to benefit strongly from aloe vera's blood enhancements (see below). Since aloe reverses "sludge blood" and boosts circulation to extremities, diabetics suffering from peripheral neuropathy (hands and feet going numb) are likely to benefit strongly from aloe vera supplements.
Aloe vera cures ulcers, IBS, Crohn's disease and Celiac disease Polysaccharides in the aloe vera plant have curative effects on numerous digestive disorders. The Internet is a storehouse of information and testimonials about aloe vera curing IBS, ulcers, Crohn's disease and other disorders of the digestive tract. This is one of the best-known applications of aloe vera gel.
